I’ve always loved the pristine sandy beaches, the water sports and the beach life.

They are pristine, and some of them are even home to the endangered Caretta Caretta turtles – a sight that makes your heart soar.

While some beaches are bursting with simplicity, others offer ancient Greek delicacies as well as flavors from around the world. Imagine sipping a coffee, lazing under an umbrella and maybe even diving into the underwater world.

But Kalamaki has more to offer than meets the eye. The enchanting Caretta Caretta turtles nest here. When these ancient sea creatures lay their eggs, certain areas become sacred to protect the future hatchlings. Take your children with you and be enchanted by the stories about these turtles.

A stroll through the streets of Kalamaki is an experience in itself. From convenient supermarkets to chic boutiques selling fashionable clothes and bags, to souvenir stores that bring back memories of the island, it’s all there. 10. Keri, the best area on Zakynthos for exploring

Have you ever dreamed of a tranquil village on the edge of an island? Keri, tucked away on the south-eastern tip of Zakynthos, is a dream come true. The village’s appeal is not limited to its mountainous charm. After just a few minutes’ descent, you will find a cozy pebble beach that has not yet been spoiled by commerce, but pampers its visitors with simple luxury.

Lose yourself (in a positive sense!) as you stroll through the picturesque alleyways of Keri. For me personally, there’s nothing quite like the charm of the village’s narrow streets, lined with stone houses that tell stories of times long past. There are local stores in the heart of the village and I can tell you that the seaside tavernas serving the freshest seafood are a little slice of heaven.

Many visitors are drawn to the Keri coast, where there’s a wider range of accommodation and a slightly livelier nightlife. But if you’re like me and crave a more authentic experience, opt for hillside rooms, chic apartments or even some of the newer hotels that have sprung up recently.

But here is the crown jewel: not far from Keri lie the majestic Mizithres. Two colossal rocks that rise out of the azure blue sea right on the coast. Believe me, you should not miss this sight. Ready for an adventure?
