Often referred to as the ‘Polish Versailles’, the palace in Warsaw proudly withstood the bombing raids of the Second World War. The interior is a treasure trove of vast rooms, the Polish Portrait Gallery, the Museum of Interior Decoration, and an extensive library. An afternoon visit is magical, especially before closing time, when the gardens are lit up with colorful lights and contrast beautifully with the daylight.
Though it is the furthest from the Old Town in Warsaw, about thirteen kilometers away, it is well connected by public transport to the city center of Warsaw. Although it may not be my first recommendation for a day trip, it is well worth a visit, especially if you are nearby and want to explore other sights in Warsaw.
