Are you planning a trip and wondering where to stay in Berlin? Then you’ve come to the right place!

Continue below for the best areas in Berlin.
I also made a video in which I show some of my favorite places in Berlin:
1. Mitte – Best residential area for sightseeing and first-time travelers
Mitte in Berlin is a central district that is rich in history and culture. It is the heart of the city, where travelers can immerse themselves in Berlin’s past and present.
The most important sights include the historically significant Alexanderplatz, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag building, Museum Island and the famous Checkpoint Charlie.

Mitte’s location ensures good public transport connections, making it easy to explore the rest of Berlin.
See the best hotels in Mitte here 👈
The area is known for its diverse art scene with numerous galleries and lively street art.
Culinary enthusiasts will appreciate the large selection of international restaurants in Mitte.
With its pedestrian-friendly streets and interesting city walks, it is also ideal for those who enjoy walking.

Overall, Mitte is an excellent choice for first-time visitors, families or anyone looking to stay close to Berlin’s main attractions.

It offers a mix of historical insights, artistic charm, global cuisine and lively nightlife, providing a comprehensive Berlin experience.

No matter where you stay in Mitte, you are always close to the S-Bahn, U-Bahn or streetcar, so you can reach the rest of the city quickly, and you can also get to your hotel from Berlin Airport in less than an hour.
Stay in the center if you are:
- Traveling to Berlin for the first time
- You are traveling to Berlin with children
Best places to stay in Mitte
Berlin is a unique city, but a lot of new things have been built since the fall of the wall, and a lot has happened in Mitte in particular, which is good for us when we need to find a good hotel in Mitte.
There is a large selection of hotels in various price ranges
Best luxury hotel in Mitte: 👉 Regent Berlin

Located in the heart of Berlin’s Mitte district, the Regent Berlin offers a luxurious, central starting point for your stay in Germany’s dynamic capital.
Each elegantly appointed room combines comfort with class, featuring plush furnishings, serene color palettes and sweeping city views that accentuate the prime location.

The hotel in Mitte is just a few steps away from historic sights such as the Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie and offers a wealth of culinary and cultural experiences right on the doorstep.
The Regent Berlin is the perfect choice for discerning travelers, history buffs, culinary connoisseurs and art lovers.
The next accommodation in Mitte offers the best of both worlds: the location is excellent, the hotel is luxurious and the prices are affordable.
👉 The NH Collection Hotel is a gem, right next to Friedrichstraße station, from where you can easily reach all the cool places in the city.

My friend had stayed here on a previous trip and had lots of good things to say. She loved the first-class service, the stylish and cozy atmosphere and all the extra amenities that made her stay memorable.

And the rooms? They are the perfect blend of modern style and comfort, ideal for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
So if you are looking for comfortable and convenient accommodation in Berlin, the NH Collection Hotel in Mitte is definitely worth a visit.
Best middle class hotel in Mitte: 👉 H4 Hotel Alexanderplatz.

I enjoyed my stay here and can tell you that this hotel meets all the criteria. The rooms? Comfortable and stylish in a way that speaks to modern simplicity.
It is a good place to stay if you want to be close to Berlin’s main sights.

The quality of your sleep is a priority here, and this is reflected in the calming atmosphere of each room.
Let’s talk about the location. The H4 is close to Alexanderplatz, so you have Berlin’s famous landmarks within easy reach.

And the cherry on top? The H4 Hotel Alexanderplatz offers all this without tearing a hole in your pocket.
It is a place that seamlessly combines comfort, location and affordability.
Best value hotel in Mitte: 👉 Best Western am Spittelmarkt Berlin.

This hotel is located directly at the Spittelmarkt subway station
The rooms at the Best Western are thoughtfully designed, clean and equipped with all the important amenities.
Every morning you can start your day with a rich breakfast buffet that offers something for every taste.
If you’re looking for affordable accommodation in Berlin Mitte, this hotel is an excellent choice that won’t break the bank.
2. Prenzlauer Berg – the best area to experience real Berlin flair
Prenzlauer Berg is very close to my heart because I lived here when I lived in Berlin.

After the fall of the Wall, young artists were drawn to Prenzlauer Berg because no one else wanted to live in the houses, and so the neighborhood quickly developed into an oasis for cool and trendy Berliners.

But the 90s are long gone and the trendy artists have become parents, making Prenzlauer Berg the most child-friendly area in Berlin and a highly sought-after residential area.
See the best hotels in Prenzlauer Berg here. 👈
Although Prenzlauer Berg is now mentioned in all Berlin travel guides and is no longer the hippest district in the city, in my opinion there is something liberating about strolling through streets like Kastanienallee, Oderberger Straße and further north in Lychener Straße around Helmholtzplatz.

That’s Berlin for me – a good mix of small indie stores, kebab stores, fancy cafés and dive bars with cheap beer.
A wonderful mix of everything that makes Berlin one of the most incredible cities in Europe!
If you’re in Berlin on Sunday, don’t forget to stop by the Mauerpark, where a large flea market with a cozy atmosphere takes place every Sunday.

Close to the Mauerpark is the Berlin Wall Memorial, one of the few places where a section of the Berlin Wall still stands on Bernauer Strasse.
Stay in Prenzlauer Berg if you:
- You love good food and coffee
- want to experience a more authentic side of Berlin than Mitte
I love Prenzlauer Berg and can’t recommend the area enough! I think it’s the best place in Berlin to experience a good, local atmosphere.
Best places to stay in Prenzlauer Berg
There are slightly fewer hotels to choose from in Prenzlauer Berg, and in contrast to Mitte, there are more local, smaller hotels than the big chains.
Of course, it has its charms too, but I still have a classic on the list below – because it has an excellent price and is close to the S-Bahn and streetcar.
Best luxury hotel: 👉 Myer’s Hotel Berlin

Located in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg, Myer’s Hotel offers a fascinating blend of historical charm and modern comfort.
The hotel is housed in a beautifully restored 19th century building and offers chic, well-appointed rooms with high ceilings, stucco details and antique features.

You can relax in the peaceful garden in the inner courtyard or enjoy a breakfast with regional products in the unique vaulted cellar.
Myer’s Hotel is located in the middle of a lively art scene, countless dining options and the famous Mauerpark flea market and is a real Berlin experience.
Best midscale hotel: 👉 Holiday Inn Berlin Prenzlauer Berg.

With its strategic location in Prenzlauer Berg, the Holiday Inn Berlin embodies comfort and an authentic local feel.

The hotel is just a few minutes away from the Prenzlauer Allee S-Bahn station and the streetcar to Alexanderplatz, so you can reach vibrant Berlin in just a few minutes.
Although the hotel is located in a quiet, less touristy area, guests are spoiled for choice with many excellent restaurants nearby.
I stayed very close to this hotel on Stargarder Straße and can only recommend exploring the neighboring streets around Helmholtzplatz.
Best value for money hotel: 👉 Hotel Kastanienhof

This magnificent boutique hotel within the walls of a renovated 19th century building offers an irresistible blend of historic charm and modern comfort.

Each of the uniquely designed rooms is equipped with all modern amenities to ensure a relaxing stay amidst timeless elegance.
The lively Kastanienallee, a hotspot with trendy cafés and stores that invite you to explore, is right on the doorstep.
A truly unique Berlin hotel in Prenzlauer Berg.
3. Charlottenburg – Best residential area for families with children
For the first time we will be talking about an area in the former West Berlin, Charlottenburg.
In Charlottenburg we find places such as the Kurfürstendamm shopping street, the KaDeWe department store, Berlin Zoo and Charlottenburg Palace.

Charlottenburg is traditionally a more decadent and beautiful area than, for example, Prenzlauer Berg, which, as already mentioned, was part of poor East Berlin.
The area is also one of the parts of Berlin that was relatively spared during the Second World War, so you can still find some older, beautiful buildings from the pre-war period here.
In Charlottenburg and especially around Kurfürstendamm, there is a different atmosphere to the rest of Berlin. Here, the city is more reminiscent of other major European cities than in the other districts.
See the best hotels in Charlottenburg here. 👈
The slightly cleaner area is therefore the perfect area for anyone traveling to Berlin with children.
Stay in Charlottenburg if you:
- want to store in the best stores in Berlin
- want to stay in beautiful, modern hotels
- want to experience the “beautiful part” of Berlin
- want to attend a concert or a soccer match at the Olympic Stadium (which is further west)
Best places to stay in Charlottenburg
Even before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Charlottenburg was an area where tourists from all over the world stayed. That’s why you need to be careful when booking the hotel, because there are some very old hotels.
If you choose one of the three in the list below, you can look forward to excellent accommodation.
It should also be said that Charlottenburg is generally a more expensive area than the others I mention here in the guide. So if you’re looking for a cheap hotel in Berlin, you’ll get more bang for your buck in Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg.
Best luxury hotel: 👉 Waldorf Astoria Berlin

The chic Waldorf Astoria is located in the heart of Berlin’s Charlottenburg district.
This hotel is pure luxury and offers a wicked combination of timeless class and ultra-modern comfort.
If you’ve seen “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, this is the place where the ladies stay on their trip to Berlin.

Housed in an epic skyscraper, each room offers stunning city views, super-stylish design and all the high-tech gadgets you need.
- Plush furniture? Yes.
- Huge marble bathrooms? All right.
- All the technical refinements to keep you connected at all times? Exactly.
So if you are looking for the most luxurious accommodation in Berlin, you should book this hotel.
Best mid-range hotel (also quite luxurious): 👉 Hotel Zoo Berlin

The hotel has 144 rooms and suites and is the epitome of cool luxury.
All rooms have impressive features such as floor-to-ceiling windows and open floor plans. Some rooms even have their own terrace where you can relax.
The design is a nod to the building’s glamorous past, with high ceilings, restored brickwork and a mix of contemporary and vintage furniture.

In the hotel’s rooftop bar, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Kurfürstendamm, Berlin’s most famous shopping street. With a handmade cocktail in your hand, you get a view of Berlin that many only dream of.
In a prime location, you are just a stone’s throw away from famous attractions such as the Berlin Zoo and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.
Best cheap hotel: 👉 Leonardo Hotel Berlin Kurfürstendamm

The Leonardo Hotel Berlin Kurfürstendamm offers an excellent option for the savvy traveler.
This hotel offers everything you need: a prime location, comfortable accommodation and a price that won’t break the budget.

The Leonardo has 136 modern rooms with flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi to keep you connected.
The rooms are streamlined and efficient, making the most of every inch of space. The comfortable beds ensure a restful night’s sleep after a day of exploring the city.
An inexpensive option for anyone who wants to stay overnight in this part of Berlin.
4. Kreuzberg – Best residential area for hipsters
When I lived in Berlin, I worked in Kreuzberg, which I really enjoyed.
However, my body weight also increased over the months, which I put down to the fantastic kebabs that you can get for a few euros on every street corner in Kreuzberg.
Kreuzberg is known for being a multicultural district, with many people with Turkish roots living there.
At the same time, Kreuzberg is known as an affordable residential area, which has contributed to many artists and creative people moving here (as was the case in Prenzlauer Berg in the 1990s).

That’s why Kreuzberg (and the area south of it, Neukölln) is perhaps one of the most hipster neighborhoods in the world. If you’ve ever been to Williamsburg in New York, you’ll know how high up on the hipster scale we are
So if you’re young, want to drink IPAs in the hippest bars and go to underground nightclubs you’ve discovered on Instagram, then Kreuzberg is the area for you.
See the best hotels in Kreuzberg here. 👈
I would not recommend booking a hotel in Kreuzberg if you are traveling to Berlin with children.
Not because it’s a dangerous area, but simply because there are better alternatives. And if you have to say something negative, the area around Kottbusser Tor might seem a bit unsafe in the late night hours (but if you’re in Berlin with kids, you’re probably not out and about at that time)
Also, Kreuzberg is a large area bordered by Checkpoint Charlie to the north, among other things, but otherwise there aren’t many outstanding attractions or sights in the area. Kreuzberg is more of a vibe.
I recommend strolling along Maybachufer, walking in Görlitzer Park, people-watching and enjoying the many unique streets and affordable restaurants.

One of my favorite restaurants in Berlin is actually located in Kreuzberg, although it’s close to Mitte and Potsdamer Platz: Mabuhay is a tiny little Indonesian restaurant that you should definitely stop by.
Stay in Kreuzberg if you:
- are a bit hipster
- Love kebabs
- want to experience the Berlin atmosphere with people from all corners of the world
Best places to stay in Kreuzberg
As mentioned, Kreuzberg is a big area, but I’ve picked a few hotels that are located in the part of the area that I think is the most exciting and coolest
Here you are never far from a good bar or a subway station.
Best luxury hotel: 👉 Orania, Berlin

This boutique hotel, which is housed in a carefully restored Art Nouveau building dating back to 1913, combines historical charm with modern elegance in a wonderful way.

The Orania.Berlin has 41 rooms and suites that are characterized by warm, understated luxury. High ceilings, oak parquet floors and custom-made furniture give each room a unique character.
Technical refinements such as soundproof windows, air conditioning and high-speed internet ensure a comfortable, quiet stay.
There’s not much more to say: if you’re looking for one of the best hotels in Kreuzberg, this is it.
Best mid-range hotel: 👉 Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Berlin City

Having had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Berlin City myself (although that was a few years ago, I think it was 2018), I can personally attest to the exceptional quality and commitment to guest satisfaction.

The location in Kreuzberg couldn’t be better as you are close to numerous subway stations, bars and restaurants.
The rooms are beautifully designed and feature modern amenities that blend seamlessly with the chic decor.
Each room is equipped with a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi and a well-stocked minibar.
So if you are looking for a good, but not too expensive hotel in Kreuzberg, this is a good choice.
Best Value Hotel: 👉 Hotel Prens Berlin

The Hotel Prens Berlin offers affordable and comfortable accommodation in the heart of Kreuzberg.

The rooms are clean and well equipped with important amenities such as flat screen TVs, Wi-Fi and private bathrooms.
The hotel is known for its friendly staff and offers a rich breakfast every day.
If you are looking for affordable, no-frills accommodation in Kreuzberg, the Hotel Prens Berlin is the right choice.
5. Friedrichshain – best area for nightlife
The last good area to stay in during your trip to Berlin is Friedrichshain. An area that is not only difficult to spell, but also has many good restaurants, cafés and bars.

Where Kreuzberg lies to the west of the Spree (the river that divides Berlin), Friedrichshain is in the eastern part, which brings us back to the former East Berlin.

You can still sense this when you walk through the cozy, famous streets around Simon-Dach-Straße and Grünberger Straße.
In Friedrichshain we also find the RAW area right next to the Warschauer Straße station, a huge outdoor and indoor area with nightclubs.
Undoubtedly a place you must visit if you are traveling to Berlin to experience the city’s world-famous nightlife.
See the best hotels in Friedrichshain here. 👈
Friedrichshain is also home to the East Side Gallery, which should be on every Berlin visitor’s bucket list.
In general, Friedrichshain is an area very similar to Kreuzberg, but without as much of a multicultural mix. It was only after the fall of the Wall that it was opened up to people from other parts of the world.
I had one of the best Vietnamese meals of my life here in the area at New Day Vietnam Heritage Food. I know – the name isn’t the best, but the food really was.
Stay in Friedrichshain if you:
- want to go to a club (for example, you can try to get into the world-famous Berghain)
- You want to experience a part of old East Berlin that is still a little raw and unpolished
- want to attend a concert in the Mercedes Benz Arena
Best places to stay in Friedrichshain
There are quite a few budget hostels and hotels in Friedrichshain. So if you’re traveling to Berlin on a budget, this is a good place to look.
However, I would like to introduce you to three hotels in different price categories.
Best luxury hotel: 👉 Hotel Indigo Berlin East Side Gallery

You’ve come to the right place if you’re looking for the best accommodation in Friedrichshain near the East Side Gallery.
The Hotel Indigo offers an ideal blend of style, comfort and convenience.
The rooms have a modern design and are equipped with amenities such as flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi.

The hotel’s prime location next to the East Side Gallery, the longest section of the Berlin Wall, allows easy access to a significant historical site.
Mitte and Kreuzberg (the area on the other side of the Spree) are also easy to reach by public transport, as both S-Bahn and U-Bahn trains are close by.
Overall, the Hotel Indigo Berlin East Side Gallery is a first-class choice for accommodation in Friedrichshain.
Best mid-market hotel: 👉 Nhow Berlin.
The nhow Berlin is a distinctive and lively hotel in Friedrichshain.
The design of the hotel reflects the neighborhood and combines music, art and architecture in a unique and appealing way.

The rooms at nhow Berlin are beautifully designed with a contemporary aesthetic and offer stunning views of the Spree. Each room features modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi and a minibar.
In keeping with the hotel’s focus on music and sound, guests can even have guitars and keyboards delivered to their room.
A unique place to stay in Berlin, perfect for young and adventurous travelers.
Best cheap hotel: 👉 Industriepalast Hostel Berlin (even though the name says it’s a hostel, there are private rooms with their own bathroom here)

The Industriepalast Hostel Berlin is a budget accommodation in Friedrichshain. It offers shared dormitories and private rooms that cater to different wishes for privacy.

The rooms are clean, comfortable and functional. A communal kitchen, a games room and a lobby bar create a sociable atmosphere.
Located close to transport links and local attractions, the hotel is an excellent choice for an affordable yet comfortable stay in Berlin.
6. Tiergarten – Central area with large park
The Tiergarten is sometimes overlooked because it’s quite small, but it’s very centrally located and I think it’s worth a mention.
As you drive around Berlin, you’ll notice that Tiergarten, which is both a district and a lush park in the city, has a special appeal to travelers who value a central location and picturesque greenery.

Especially if you enjoy jogging in the morning or going for a walk in the countryside in the afternoon, this area offers you both the tranquillity of extensive green spaces and the proximity to important points in the city.
A stay in Tiergarten, especially on the edge of the park, offers you a mix of charming cafés, established hotels and effortless access to public transportation.
See the best hotels in Tiergarten here. 👈
Berlin Central Station, Berlin’s largest railroad station, is located directly north of the park.
It not only makes it easy to travel to different parts of Berlin, but also serves as a hub for exploring more distant destinations within Germany. And this is where the express train departs from Berlin Airport.
Let’s move on to a key aspect: mobility within the city.
Berlin’s robust subway system has several stations around the Tiergarten, so you can get from your hotel to other districts or sights relatively easily.
The U1 and U2 lines, for example, provide quick access to districts such as Kreuzberg and Mitte, taking you to a world of restaurants, historical sites and local culture without long travel times.
The zoo itself not only offers a break from the urban environment, but also a series of statues, monuments and even a zoo that invites you to take a leisurely day trip.
Considering the size of the Tiergarten, you’ll find plenty to see here – from tranquil ponds and statues to the Victory Column, which you can climb to enjoy a panoramic view of Berlin.
In summary, choosing the Tiergarten as a base for your visit to Berlin combines the double advantage of centrally located accommodation with the added attraction of nature and walks just a step away from your hotel room.
Overnight accommodation in Tiergarten
Hotels in Tiergarten come in a variety of price ranges and styles, so whether you’re traveling on a budget or looking to spend a little more, you’re likely to find a deal that suits you.
The 👉 JW Marriott Hotel in Berlin is much loved by travelers, and it’s easy to see why when you look at its location near Potsdamer Platz.

It’s right in the middle of the action and makes it super easy to get to cool sights like the Brandenburg Gate or the Berlin Philharmonic Hall.
If you read the guest reviews, the cozy rooms are a big hit, where you can get a good night’s sleep after a busy day. The indoor pool and wellness area are also very popular, a place of peace and relaxation.

And if you like steaks or need a good breakfast to start the day, then the Midtown Grill in the hotel is a hit according to many guests.
The 👉 Pestana Berlin Tiergarten is a solid base for exploring Berlin, especially because of its fantastic location in the Tiergarten.

If you look at the reviews, it is clear that guests appreciate the proximity to the major attractions, but also the seclusion in a quiet area.
The rooms are comfortable and clean, as many travelers report, and ensure a good night’s sleep after a tour of the city.

Breakfast is a detail that stands out in the guest comments – people really like it. There is a lot of talk about the variety and quality of the food to start the day.
Some visitors also enjoyed a little break in the hotel’s sauna and pool area, where they could relax after all the sightseeing.
Pestana is a place where you get the best of both worlds – centrally located, but with the option of being able to retreat if necessary.
I also found a new, very cool place to stay in Berlin!
It looks like the 👉 Pullman Berlin Schweizerhof has caught the attention of some Berlin visitors!

People talk about the fresh and modern look of the relatively new hotel in Tiergarten.
One point that comes up again and again in the reviews is the chilled-out pool area – a big hit for those looking to unwind after a day of exploring. Several travelers describe the rooms as cozy and stylish, offering a comfortable place to relax.

And the breakfast is praised by many guests for its tasty and varied options to get your day off to a good start.
For those who appreciate a touch of modern flair and proximity to the action, the Pullman Berlin Schweizerhof offers a good balance.
I hope this guide has been helpful to you – if you have any questions about your upcoming trip to Berlin, let me know in the comments below.

Frequently asked questions:
Where should you stay the first time in Berlin?
It depends on your preferences and interests, but Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg are generally very popular with tourists as there is a lot to experience there. Mitte is home to some of Berlin’s most famous monuments and museums, such as the Brandenburg Gate and Museum Island, while Prenzlauer Berg offers trendy stores, restaurants and bars in a more bohemian atmosphere. Other popular areas include Kreuzberg and Neukölln, which are known for their multicultural flair and lively nightlife.
Is it better to stay in East or West Berlin?
The decision between East and West Berlin ultimately depends on what you expect from your stay in the city.
West Berlin tends to be more upmarket and traditionally tourist-oriented, with many of the city’s famous attractions such as Charlottenburg Palace and Berlin Zoo. It is known for its elegant shopping districts such as Kurfürstendamm and is home to more conventional, upmarket accommodation. Things are a little quieter here, and as you say, it could be described as cleaner and more family-friendly.
East Berlin, on the other hand, is known for its vibrant nightlife, lively art scene and eclectic mix of bars, clubs and restaurants. It is home to districts such as Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain, which are known for their cultural diversity and historical sights such as the East Side Gallery. Accommodation options in East Berlin are varied and range from luxury hotels to budget hostels. In general, East Berlin tends to appeal to younger travelers or those looking for an adventurous experience off the beaten path.
So if you’re traveling with family or prefer a cultured, relaxed trip, West Berlin may be better suited for you. However, if you’re looking for a vibrant, culturally rich experience in a more bohemian environment, East Berlin is for you. Don’t forget that Berlin’s excellent public transportation system makes it easy to explore all areas of the city, no matter where you’re staying.
How much does an overnight stay in a Berlin hotel cost?
Prices for hotels in Berlin vary depending on the season, location and quality of the hotel. In general, you can expect to pay between €50 and €150 per night for a standard double room in a 3-star hotel in the city center (Mitte). If you are looking for more luxurious accommodation or want to stay in a trendy part of town, prices can rise to over €200 per night. There are also many budget options, such as hostels and Airbnb apartments, which can be cheaper than traditional hotels.
What is the main area of Berlin?
Berlin doesn’t really have a main district, but Mitte is the closest, because Mitte translates as “center”.
Which is the coolest neighborhood in Berlin?
Kreuzberg and neighboring Neukölln are considered the coolest neighborhoods in Berlin and probably in all of Germany. Wedding has long been referred to as “the next Kreuzberg”, but Kreuzberg is still the winner.
How walkable is Berlin?
Where shouldn’t you stay overnight in Berlin?
As in every major city, there are areas in Berlin that do not appeal to every visitor, mainly due to their location, lack of typical tourist facilities or limited attractions.
Marzahn, for example, is a residential district on the eastern outskirts of Berlin. It’s known for its high-rise buildings and beautiful gardens, but lacks the nightlife, historical sites and cultural institutions that characterize more central districts. If you’re not particularly interested in experiencing a different side of Berlin life, this may not be the most exciting place to settle down.
It’s a similar story in Lichtenberg, another district that is somewhat removed from Berlin’s main attractions. Although there are some interesting sights here, such as the Stasi Museum and Tierpark Berlin, it is not the first choice for tourists looking for a central starting point for exploring the city.
Safety can also play a role when choosing accommodation in Berlin. Although the city is generally safe, it is always advisable to be aware of the areas you plan to visit or stay in.
As always, your choice of accommodation should be based on what you want from your visit. Berlin has an extensive and efficient public transport system, so you don’t necessarily have to miss out when staying in a city further afield. However, if you want to be in the heart of the action, districts such as Mitte, Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, Charlottenburg and Prenzlauer Berg may be more appealing choices.
